Once again an email from a friend has prompted me to report in, as it were. *waves*

Anyway, this time I haven't been away working on fanfic or being sick, I've actually been paying more attention to election news than ever before, not to mention actually doing more.

Following the news has actually annoyed me from time to time. I'm no Palin fan, but what do these news people latch on to as "news"? The money spent on her clothing and make-up, and make no mistake I do understand (kind of) why this is an issue. She's trying to say she's an average woman, but I don't personally know any women that actually spend that much on clothing and make-up. So, as I said, I kind of get why that is news.

However, I am personally more interested in her ties to the AIP (Alaskan Independence Party) - here's a woman that's trying to claim she's as American (or more) as everyone else, and she may very well be, but her ties to the AIP cast a shadow on that, at least in my mind. Of course, even without that doubt hanging over my mind I wouldn't vote for her. There's mainly two reasons why, and I don't care what you say, a vote for McCain is a vote for Palin - lets face it McCain is old, and while it isn't certain it is certainly possible that this chick might end up being president, and that is personally unacceptable to me.

First is the abortion issue, and while I freely admit I have some pro-life leanings myself, I think the government should stay the f*ck out of it. But Palin has made her position on this clear, she doesn't care that a rape victim might not wish to continue to be violated by her attacker. And it gets worse, she doesn't even think a girl who is raped by someone in her family should be allowed to abort. The mind boggles here, it really does.
(Then in the last debate McCain pissed me off over this himself when he acted like health of the mother... I just can't, I start to foam at the mouth just thinking about how he acted.)

Second is that she keeps throwing out things that she really needs to research before talking about, because her ignorance starts to show when she very clearly doesn't know what she's talking about. Yes, I'm talking about socialist, and it's even hard to swallow McCain calling Obama that, but at least he does have a bit more of a leg to stand on than she does when it comes to using that word.
(Not to mention that while she was being all pro-Autism research she ended up bashing a study that has done some Autism research. My advice for Gov. Palin would be to take a bit of that clothing money and hire at least a couple people to do some research for her before she gives speeches.)

Anyway, look at what Palin has done in Alaska - taxing the oil companies to send people in her state a nice fat check. Someone please explain to Sarah Palin that this makes her as much of a wealth spreader (if not more) than Obama, because honestly she just needs to stop talking about it! And yet the media and everyone else seems to not notice or know... Geez, no wonder many people honestly turn to shows like the The Daily Show and Colbert Report for their news, and yet sadly even they haven't really talked about this one.

On the other hand, McCain did offer a few laughs when he tried to say that Obama was like George Bush. Who voted with Bush 90% of the time? It certainly wasn't Obama. So, I think on this one he really needs to shut up himself.

Now aren't you sorry Santaman called me back. *grin*

Of course I'm not sorry. ;) I rather see you rant about politics then not see you at all. *hugs*
